Family Budget Services further equips Focus’s community of advisors with the tools needed to support clients’ budgeting conversations and fills a needed gap in building wealth. In addition to supporting Focus’s advisor community, made up of over 230 Focus Partners advisors and a network of over 1,000 independent advisors who are part of Focus Strategic Partners, Family Budget Services offers independent consulting, regardless of an affiliation with Focus. Led by Director of Family Budget Services Rob Bertman, CFA, CSLP®, CFP®, formerly of Family Budget Expert, this service helps families face their spending issues head-on and deliver life-changing results, both financially and emotionally.

With over 20 years in the financial industry, Rob shifted his focus from a VP and partner in investment management after noticing a gap in services that balanced both the financial and emotional needs of budgeting. He started “Family Budget Expert” in 2015 to deliver a collaborative process that helps families create a simple and flexible budgeting system, while providing the guidance and accountability needed to make this happen. “I am passionate that a budget doesn’t have to feel like a negative thing. I love seeing both the financial improvement and the relationship transformation that comes from working together through our process,” said Rob. “Those ‘aha!’ moments when a couple realizes that they can keep spending on what they enjoy and still reduce their expenses is magical.”
