About Dan

Dan is a trusted resource at Focus who has authored or co-authored three books on investing, including 1998’s The Prudent Investor’s Guide to Beating Wall Street at Its Own Game, The Investment Answer in 2011, and The Retirement Answer in 2026.

Dan began his investment career in 1991 after retiring from the ATP Tour (men’s professional tennis), where he was a Wimbledon quarterfinalist and won four professional titles. Dan’s tennis acumen dates back further, when he was the 1986 NCAA men’s singles champion for Stanford University. His accolades have earned him induction into the Intercollegiate Tennis Hall of Fame, the Northern California Tennis Hall of Fame, and the Stanford University Sports Hall of Fame.
